Hannah is Two Weeks Old!

Hannah had her two week check up today, all is well. She weighs 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and is a happy, healthy baby. Here are a few more pictures.

A few more pictures

Well, Hannah is proving to be difficult to photograph because she sleeps all day, and when she is awake, no one else is up - except for me of course, and somehow that's not when I feel like taking "cute Hannah" pictures. I did get a few today though, and here they are.

Celebrations

We've had a number of other celebrations around our house recently, but we've been so busy that we haven't had a chance to tell you about them.

For Lillie's birthday, we celebrated with a strawberry cheesecake (I grew the strawberries all by myself!) Most of her birthday presents were scrapbooking supplies, although I helped Ben get the present he wanted to give her: "Licorice and Chocolate."

Our Independence Day picnic turned out to be quite successful, thanks to Lisa's festive decorations and everyone's fabulous food. Mom Lucas was able to enjoy the holiday with all three of her daughters.
A few days later, it was my turn to grow older. Lillie made me a fresh strawberry pie with real whipped cream. YUM!! I'll be busy with the reading material I received for the next several months.

Big News!

Our sweet little baby girl has arrived! Both mom and baby are doing great, and we're all feeling very grateful and blessed. For those who don't know, Lillie had the baby at home with the help of a midwife.

Baby Ricks still doesn't have a name, but we've narrowed the list to two. (Lillie's glad she doesn't have to find a boy name...) Anyway, the choice is between Elizabeth Ann Ricks, and Hannah Elizabeth Ricks. We like both Elizabeth and Ann. My Grandfather's mother was named Hannah and went by Annie, so there's a family connection there. But... already having a Dan in the family might make having an Ann complicated (When your name is called from across the yard, distiguishing "Dan" from "Ann" might be difficult.) Anyway, we'll post again when Baby has a name.

Here's the details on the birth: Lillie had a great Sunday morning--she even went to church, took a nap, and had dinner--before Babymade it clear she was ready to start making her grand entrance. This was about 6:30 or 7 p.m. Lillie's hypnobirthing worked great, and she was able to relax through most of the first stage. At twenty after 11, I called the midwife and she came over about 11:45. Baby was born about an hour later at 12:42 am, weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz. She was a little blue due to the stress of being born, but is now doing great!
